What to prepare:
Things to note:
We recognize that we are still in the middle of a pandemic. No one will be allowed into the auditions without a mask. We will expect you to wear your mask during the entire audition process unless otherwise instructed. This means that you will be learning the dance audition with a mask on. Please prepare accordingly. You will be provided with opportunities to step outside and get some air during the dance portion of the audition.
The Junior Theater Festival will be held June 25th-27th in Houston, TX.
In addition to the $250 festival fee, students and their families need to organize and pay for their own transportation to and from Houston as well as lodging while there.
All roles are available. No roles are precast.
Just because a role exists in the full version of Aladdin, JR does not mean that it will make it into our 15 minute competition cut.
Every actor will be actively involved in the show for the entirety of the 15 minute cut. Just because you may not receive a “named” role does not mean that you did not get a good role. Every role is a good role in JTF.
This team will be rehearsing for the festival under the direction of Keelie Collins, Cory Speakman, and Taylor Jarrard.
Rehearsals will primarily be on Saturday mornings starting later this year and running until the weekend of the festival. We will add some week night rehearsals once school is out for the summer.

For your singing audition, please sing 30 seconds of “Arabian Nights” as a solo starting at 0:34 with “Oh I come from a land…” all the way up to “... another Arabian night” at 1:04. The track has multiple voices, but we would like you to prepare as if it were a solo. Please sing this IN YOUR OWN OCTAVE and with your own personality (do not imitate the voices on the track). We will have the tracks prepared, so there is no need for you to bring a device to play the music from.

What to prepare:
- Song: We will be asking everyone to sing the same 30 second section of “Arabian Nights” for the singing portion of their audition. Please do not prepare your own song. More information about the singing portion of the audition can be found at the bottom of this audition announcement.
- Dance: Come dressed to learn a short dance routine. You will not be given time to change between the singing and dancing portions of the audition.
