Matilda

Picture
Explosively funny, heartwarming musical about a zany girl genius and a set of quirky to dangerous characters.
“Sometimes you have to be a little bit naughty.” That’s the rule child genius, Matilda Wormwood, lives by as she takes on the arduous task of keeping her criminally stupid parents in line. When she’s sent to school, she meets her archnemesis in the homicidally insane headmistress and former olympic hammer-throwing champion, Agatha Trunchbull.

Will Matilda vanquish the Trunchbull? Will she find a real family? And will her father escape the Russian mafia? Matilda answers all these questions and more in a loud, colorful, and explosively funny evening of musical theater at its best.

Director's Notes:
We are so very excited to round out our season with the astoundingly larger-than-life musical, Matilda. A zany trip through the mind of a genius girl, Matilda has an unforgettable cast of characters and will keep you guessing as to what will happen next. Although the musical follows a child protagonist, the themes of sacrifice, love, and courage are certainly for more than just children (as are many of the jokes!), and we know our audiences will fall in love with this unique show, which has enthralled and inspired theater-goers of all ages since its London debut.
