Audition Basics 8-12yr olds              Tuition $75.00           Dates: March 4-5 & 8-12

Make sure you are ready for the next audition! This Audition Basics course will prepare you so that you never have to miss another audition because you found out about it too late to prepare! This class includes 14 hours of instruction and 1 hour of presentation.  This is an afterschool workshop and will meet each day from 3:30-5:30. The class will culminate in a presentation of approximately 1 hour on Friday March 12th (5:30-6:30) in the Black Box. Each student will be introduced to theater etiquette, stage presentation, non-verbal/verbal communication, and will come out of the workshop with an age-appropriate monologue and an audition song prepared. Come get an edge on the competition! Students will receive a certificate certifying that they have completed 15 hours of Performing Arts Instruction.

Elements of Production 8-12yr olds:             Tuition $75.00                      Dates: April 5-6, 8-9,12-13 & 15

The students will get "hands-on" exposure to the soundboard, lights, a set being built in process and more! This class includes 14 hours of instruction and 1 hour of presentation. This is an afterschool workshop and will meet each day from 3:30-5:50. The class will culminate in a presentation of approximately 1 hour on Thursday, April 15th (5:30-6:30.) Each day of the workshop, the students will be introduced to key elements of theatrical production.

*Day 1: Director Day-Script analysis, the audition process, creating a rehearsal schedule, building a "company."

*Day 2: Set Day 1-Set Design and Set Building

*Day 3: Set Day 2-Scenic Painting and Set Dressing

*Day 4: Costuming Day-Period Costume Design/Character Costume Design

*Day 5: Special Effect Day-Tricks of the Trade

*Day 6: Tech Day-Sound and Lights

*Day 7: Post Production Day-Preparation and Presentation

Professionals in the various fields will be making the presentations as available. Students will receive a certificate certifying that they have completed 15 hours of Performing Arts Instruction.

Actin' Up! 4-7yr olds:                        Tuition $50.00                                    Dates: August 9-13

Improv is a very important part of learning to be comfortable and animated on stage. It helps us explore and expand who we truly are! This class includes 9 hours of instruction and 1 hour of presentation. These 10 hours will be taken in an afterschool workshop for 5 days from 3:30-5:30. The class will culminate in a presentation of approximately 1 hour on the last Friday at the end of class (4:30-5:30.) Each student will be introduced to the world of improv. Students will be encouraged to take the stage boldly and "find their inner actor!" with classic theater games such as "What am I?", "What can this fabric be?", "The name game" and "Freeze." Focus will be on self-confidence and creativity. Students will receive a certificate certifying that they have completed 10 hours of Performing Arts Instruction.

 

Dream Scenes 8-18yr olds:                Tuition $150.00          Dates: May 3-7,10-14 & 17-22

Have you ever said to yourself, "I would be great as Annie" or "I could play the Phantom?" Well, this is your chance! No need to sweat if you will get the role! You tell us what role you want to play and we will script a scene just for you! This class includes 30 hours of instruction and 2 hours of presentation. This afterschool workshop will be an "actors dream come true" and will meet every day from 3:30-5:30. Each student will be introduced to a variety of Broadway classic productions with a brief setting study and history of each one. These productions include (but are not limited to) My Fair Lady, Sound of Music, Les Miserables, Oliver, Annie and The King and I. Each student will then choose a character that they want to play, I will script a scene from that show, then a "Broadway Review" style variety show will be performed for an audience. Performance dates are May 21st and 22nd. Students will receive a certificate certifying that they have completed 30 hours of Performing Arts Instruction.

 

Storybook Theater 3-5yr olds:         Tuition $100.00          Dates: July 5-9

You are never too young to start gaining the confidence to get on stage! This class includes 18 hours of instruction and 1 hour of presentation. These 18 hours will be taken in a summer day camp for 5 days from 9:00-12:00am. Students will learn about stage movement (though not expected to memorize) through a "reader's theater" type format. The children will then perform Rumpelstiltskin read either by the teacher or a teen intern. The performance will be at 11:00am on Friday, July 9th.  Students will receive a certificate certifying that they have completed 15 hours of Performing Arts Instruction.

 

Hansel and Gretel 6-8yr olds:                Tuition $100.00          Dates: July 2 & 5-9

This class includes 18 hours of instruction and 1 hour of presentation. These 18 hours will be taken in a summer day camp for 5 days from 1:00-4:00pm. Students will learn about stage movement, memorization skills, and dialogue. Simple memorization required. The students will then perform Hansel and Gretel and this version has many fun and colorful characters (for instance, the 7 dwarves save Hansel and Gretel from the witch.) Performance will be at 4:00pm on July 9th. Students will receive a certificate certifying that they have completed 15 hours of Performing Arts Instruction.

 

Beauty and the Beast 9-13yr olds:               Tuition $200.00          Dates: July 19-23 & 26-31

Beauty and the Beast, the classic French fairy tale, was written in 1740. This story by Jeanne-Marie Le Prince de Beaumont is the timeless tale of love that grows based on the heart of a person, not his appearance. This will be the most educational and fun camp you can possibly send your child to this summer! (Ok, so we might me a little bias!) This class includes 60 hours (minus lunch break) of instruction and 4 hours of presentation. These 60 hours will be taken in a summer day camp for 10 days from 9-3pm. Students will be learning stage movement, choreography, memorization skills, dialogue and vocal coaching through the musical production of this classic children's story. Performances will be at 5:30pm on Friday, July 30th and Saturday, July 31st. Students will receive a certificate certifying that they have completed 60 hours of Performing Arts Instruction.

 

Script Writing 13-18yr olds:                         Tuition $75.00                        Dates: August 16-20 & 23-27

A great theatrical performance does not start with a great set, impressive costumes or even a talented cast! It starts with a great SCRIPT! Let you student study the basics of scriptwriting in a fun and entertaining format. This class includes 15 hours of instruction and 1 hour of dramatic reading presentation. This is an afterschool workshop meeting every day from 3:30-5:30. The dramatic reading will be presented at 6:00pm on Friday, August 27th . Students will be introduced to the basic dynamics of scriptwriting and will be required to work on 2 projects: writing an individual script from an event in their life and working on a group project using either a book or folk tale (students will choose) as the resource text. Students will receive a certificate certifying that they have completed 15 hours of Performing Arts Instruction.

 

Grease 13-18yr olds:                                 Tuition $300.00             Dates: May 31st, June 1-4,7-11 & 14-18

Come be a party of this High School version (somewhat more PG than the original) of this classic rock-opera! This class includes 90 hours of instruction and 12 hours of performance (6-2hr performances.) This will be a summer day camp 15 days from 9am-3pm. Auditions will be on May 24th and 25th from 4:00-9:00pm. Camp Kick off will be Memorial Day, May 31st with a float in the parade and a "sock hop" at a local "Burger Palace!" Performances will be on the Main Stage at 7:00pm on June 18,19,20,25,26,27. Preview is June 17th and will be free for family members of the campers.  Students will be learning stage movement, choreography, memorization skills, dialogue and vocal coaching. Students will receive a certificate certifying that they have completed 100 hours of Performing Arts Instruction. Students will bring their own lunch. The cast will also be performing at the R Ranch members-only resort. A pool-side cast party will follow the cast's performance. License pending.

 

Harry Potter all ages:                           Tuition $150.00          Dates: October 4-8, 11-15 & 18-23

What could be more fun than this outrageous satire of a young wizard, his faithful friends and nemesis Lord Voldemort? This show includes 30 hours of instruction and 4 hours of performance (2-2hr performances.) This is an after-school workshop meeting each day from  3:30-5:30pm. The class will culminate in the performance of Harry Potter and the Obnoxious Voice.  This class will ONLY be open to the students that have accumulated at least 45 hours of performing arts instruction through the Holly Theater Children's Education Program.  The performances will be on Friday, October 22nd and Saturday, October 23rd at 5:30pm. Each student will get 2 comp tickets. Students will receive a certificate certifying that they have completed 30 hours of Performing Arts Instruction.

 

Goldilocks and the 3 Bears on the Square:             No Charge                  Dates: April 17, 18 (rehearsal dates TBA)

This show is has been done at the Bear/Square festival for many years (since the very first festival) and was scripted by local playright, Tim Quigley. It will be performed in an outdoor venue with the black box as the "rain-out" plan. This show will require 10 days of after-school rehearsals.  Castmembers will walk in the Bear on the Square parade and donations will be asked for at the performance. Students will receive a certificate certifying that they have completed 20 hours of Performing Arts Instruction.

 

Snow White and the 7 Short Goldminers:              No Charge                  Dates: October 16,17 (rehearsal dates TBA)

A wonderful addition to the GoldRush Days Celebration! It will be performed in an outdoor venue at the Goldrush festival with the black box as the "rain out" plan. Castmembers will walk in the GoldRush parade and donations will be asked for at the performance. This show will require 10 days of after-school rehearsals.  Students will receive a certificate certifying that they have completed 20 hours of Performing Arts Instruction.
