Overnight Acting Intensive Camp for Teens (Ages 12-17) In cooperation North Georgia College & State University July 10-19 Our overnight camp is located on the campus of North Georgia College & State University, which is less than 100 yards from the Historic Holly Theatre in beautiful downtown Dahlonega, Georgia. Dahlonega is in the mountains of North Georgia and is a small town with a big arts reputation. NGCSU is a state university and also military college and students will get the chance to use the campus' recreational areas while in camp. Hearty meals will be provided in the campus dining hall. The student-counselor ratio in the dormitories is 10 to 1. Campus security is on duty 24 hours a day. The students will stay for ten nights in the air-conditioned dorms with 2to 4 students per room in separate male/female facilities. Classroom facilities include the campus Auditorium, the Fine Arts theater, great rooms at the dormitory and ample classroom spaces for acting classes and special seminars. There are rehearsal pianos and practice rooms for evening coachings. This campus has it all. The week is packed with daily workshops in singing, movement, scene study, improvisation, juggling, monologue preparation, dance, and auditioning techniques. Evening programs will focus on vocal interpretation, stage combat, set design, playwriting, make-up application and design, and the “business side”of theater. The time between workshops is spent dining, swimming, practicing for the next class and playing Ultimate Frisbee and other recreational games on the drill field lawn. Adult supervision is provided at all times. Housing and all meals are included in the tuition amount. Also included are special activities which will include seeing a performance on the mainstage at the Holly Theatre ("Big River") and more. Students will prepare for a final performance for parents and friends at the end of camp. Details are being confirmed for the final performance... possible final performance will be A Bridge to Terabithia or possibly a revue put together in camp of many different monologues, scenes, dances, and songs.
